Chamber Golf Tournament Sponsors

The is looking for sponsors and golfers for its this June.

The will be on June 28 at Gillette Ridge Golf Club in Bloomfield and the proceeds will be used toward scholarships for seniors.

About 80 golfers are expected to attend the tournament this year.

Rocky Hill Hall of Fame

Tickets are now available for the 10th .

The following people will be inducted into the Hall of Fame:

  • Doug Elliot, 2006 (Football and Baseball)
  • Kevin Lukas, RHHS 2002 (Football, Basketball and Baseball)
  • Peter Roman, RHHS 1975 (Soccer)
  • Patrick Sullivan, RHHS 1966 (Soccer)
  • Diane Zaniewski, RHHS 2003 (Soccer)
  • Cara Pizzo, RHHS 2012,
  • Chuck Veneziano, John J. McVicar Distinguished Service Award
  • 1979 RHHS Boys State Championship Soccer Team

The dinner will be held at the on June 2. The event will start at 5:45 p.m. with a cocktail hour and will be followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

All proceeds from the event will go toward scholarships at Rocky Hill High School.

College Happens Event

The will host a discussion next month on helping parents and students prepare for college.

University of Hartford Adjunct Professor Mitchell D. Weiss, who is author of “Life Happens; a Practical Guide to Personal Finance from College to Career,” will be the host of the lecture. He will "suggest strategies for controlling higher education costs and recommend some tactics for managing education related debt," according to the release.

The event will take place on June 12 rom 6:30 to 8 p.m. and is free of charge. Anyone interested in participating in the program, should register by calling 860-258-7623 or by visiting the library’s website.

Video Game Addiction

A video game addiction presentation will be offered in Glastonbury tonight. 

Dr. Ryan Van Cleave, who was once addicted to video games himself, will be keynote speaker at the “Is it really just a game?” lecture and presentation. Cleave has appeared on the Headline News Network, Dr. Drew and Sirius Satellite Radio as well as in USA Today, the Guardian, St. Petersburg Times and the Miami Herald.

The event, which is being presented by the Rushford and the Glastonbury Alcohol & Drug Council, will be 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Riverfront Community Center, located at 300 Welles St. in Glastonbury.
