Budget Workshop

The Town Council will discuss the 2012-2013 for Rocky Hill tonight inside the Council Chambers at Town Hall at 7 p.m.

The proposed annual budget is $63,293,752, which is $3,203,575, or 5.3 percent, higher than . The proposed tax rate was set at 26.1 mills per $1,000 of assessed property value, an increase of 1.6 mills.

The councilors are expected to make cuts to the budget Monday night and decide on how much money should be removed or added. The town manager will apply the cuts to the proposed budget and then represent it to the council at a later date.

There is some discussion when the next budget workshop will be. The next workshop is scheduled for May 14, however there was discussion at the previous meeting that the council could adopt on the budget on May 17.

National Volunteer Week

The Central Connecticut Health District held on April 17.

The volunteers assist in household hazardous waste collections, emergency preparedness drills, prescription drug counseling, and blood glucose screenings.

Register Nurse Jacki Baranowski was recognized for her many years of service of providing free blood glucose screenings. Administrative Assistant Cheryl Kissinger and Chief of Environmental Health Services Nancy Brault were also recognized and given gifts from Central Connecticut Health District.

Stay Accredited Night

The political action committee will be holding a fundraiser at the tonight from 5 to 10 p.m.

The restaurant will donate 10 percent of your bill to Stay Accredited fund.

The committee's mission is to garner enough support from residents to pass any referendum question that keeps the high school accredited and addresses the 

Government Operations Meeting

The summer painting schedule for the schools and the will be discussed at the Government Operations Committee meeting at 6 p.m. inside the Council Chambers at .

The next Government Operations Meeting will be on June 4.
