Absentee Ballots for Referendum

Absentee ballots are expected to be available today for the June 5 town wide referendum to decide if residents will approve funds to renovate as new project.

On April 12, the Town Council and expand the 30-year-old school to the voters, asking them to decide the project's future at the referendum. The state is expected to reimburse the town about 44 percent of the project's costs, leaving taxpayers here to pay the remaining $28.55 million.

State Trooper Applications

The Connecticut State Police Department is looking to recruit a few new troopers. 

Applications for the "" can be obtained on the State Police website www.ct.gov/despp or by contacting a State Police recruiter at 203-630-8070.

The applications must be completed and submitted by May 29.

Board of Education Meeting

The Board of Education will be hold its tonight at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the .

The Principal Megan Bennett is expected to be accepted by the board. Students from and will receive Leadership Award Certificates.

Veteran Speaks at Lodge at Cold Spring

resident Ray Krawiec will give a " in honor of Armed Forces Day on Saturday.

Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman and Mayor Anthony LaRosa  as well as other veterans are expected to attend the event.

The event will be at 2 p.m. at the Lodge at Cold Spring with a complimentary dinner for all veterans preceding the speech at 12:30 p.m.
