The Exhibit Center at Dinosaur State Park is scheduled to close for five to six weeks beginning this month to remake the center’s Discovery Room for the first time since it opened in 1978.
The center will close on Feb. 25, and a reopening is planned for April 2. Park hiking trails will remain open during the exhibit center’s closure.
The Friends of Dinosaur State Park and Arboretum Inc. commissioned a design study for the project, which was completed in 2010. The State Bond Commission then approved $180,000 for the project in June.
The museum design firm Experience Design was selected to work on the project.
The new Discovery Room is planned to have an interactive wall map, new cabinets with pull-out drawers to view specimens, a magnetic wall map and other exhibits.
