All Residents Could Have Power By Sunday

Hydro-Québec and Connecticut Light and Power are in town restoring power.

Utility companies spent Wednesday restoring power throughout the town while emergency shelters remained open to keep residents warm and feed.

There are 4,534 Connecticut Light and Power customers or 46% of the town without power, according to their website. Eight Hydro-Québec trucks are currently in town working on restoring power, Town Manager Barbara Gilbert said. Power is expected to be restored to all residents by Sunday, according to the town website.

The will remain open as an emergency shelter and will continue to offer warm meals to residents. Meals were served to 275 residents last night. Arts and crafts will be available for children in Council Chambers.

Hot showers will be available at from 1:30-10 p.m.

Brush pickup will start as soon as power has been restored to every resident in Rocky Hill and cleanups will begin on Monday, according to the town website.

Sam's Club will be receiving a shipment of generators. The store will be open for all members and non-members to shop this week.
