Meet the Newest Members of the Aetna Ambulance Team

On April 26, 2012 three EMTs and two Paramedics were added to the Aetna team. As part of our continued growth Aetna Ambulance seeks out only the best candidates.

HARTFORD — On April 26, 2012 three EMTs and two Paramedics were added to the Aetna team. As part of our continued growth Aetna and ASM seek out only the best candidates. We look for employees who are focused on high-quality patient care, are team oriented and conduct themselves in a professional manner. During the orientation, employees learn about company philosophy and goals, quality assurance, and policies and procedures.

Gordon Reed: Full-time Paramedic. Graduated from Capitol Community College’s Paramedic Program. My name is Gordon Reed, I have been a volunteer firefighter in my hometown of Southington since 2004. This led to me taking an interest in EMS. I became an EMT Basic in the summer of 2005 and have since worked in Waterbury for about a year, followed by over five years in Meriden and Middletown. During my time at Hunter’s I served as a Field Training Officer for four years and assisted in running the driver training program.  I recently finished a paramedic program here in Hartford and have always wanted to return to working in Hartford. Outside of EMS I enjoy winter hiking, especially in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Being outdoors and active is a must for me. I also have enjoyed a love/hate relationship with my 1966 Mustang for the past 2 years. When I am stuck indoors I like to fill up my numerous sketchpads with drawings. I am also an avid painter. Spending time with my family and my girlfriend of 2 years also tops out my list of things to do.

Emory Myerjack: Part-time EMT. I am a proud dad of two boys: Chase, who is 3 and Cody, who will be 2 in June. I have been married to my wife and best friend Heather for five years.  I like to bring the boys out to watch the tugs and tankers in New Haven Harbor, the planes taking off and landing at Meriden Markham Airport and the trains coming through Wallingford. About two years ago, my wife encouraged me to go back to school to become a registered nurse. Upon learning of my acceptance into the Nursing Program at Goodwin College, I figured I’d strengthen my base of knowledge, so I enrolled in an EMT class. I have always had a strong interest in EMS, but since taking the EMT class I’ve developed a passion for emergency care. I enjoy spending time with my family, biking, hiking, snowshoeing and running, especially with our black lab, Harley. I’m a Past Master in the Freemasons, and formerly a member of the Cheshire Jaycees. I’m a founding member and the initial President of the Cheshire Dog Park Inc. and every year I look forward to pulling their Memorial Day parade float with my John Deere. I’m really excited to be on-board with the Aetna Ambulance team and look forward to meeting everyone and working with you for years to come.

Alexandre Adams: Full-time EMT. My name is Alexandre Adams and I’m 25 years old. I enjoy working with computers and playing video games as much as I enjoy going outside and biking or working out in my yard. For most of my adolescence I wanted to be a detective but a rejection of hire from my dream department left me in a sort of limbo. After some time I realized the things I was good at and the reasons I wanted to be a detective had less to do with police and more to do with helping people live their life. After taking a skills test I decided to enroll in EMT school with Hartford Hospital. After much hard work and sacrifice I graduated in the top five of my class and was one of the lucky few to be hired with Aetna. I look forward to learning the ropes and serving my community!

Steven Jachym: Full-time EMT. I enjoy living. I think it is pretty enjoyable to get up in the morning and be able to utilize all of the five senses. Being me, I sometimes take these things for granted, but I try to appreciate the simple things in life to the fullest extent possible. I enjoy anything and everything that involves learning. I love to absorb information, process it, and apply it to every aspect of my life. Music is awesome, photography is great, and I really like filling my time with hobbies. I like to go hiking for a few days to clear my head and relax. It’s always nice to take myself out of the comforts of everyday living and it really makes me appreciate what I have. I’ve been in EMS for about a year working with a volunteer ambulance corp.
