Katherine S. Powell, LCSW, MPH, Named Clinical Director of Adult Mental Health Services at Rushford

(Meriden, CT)  --  Katherine S. Powell has been named to the position of Clinical Director of Adult Mental Health Services at Rushford, a Hartford HealthCare partner, providing addiction and mental health treatment programs for children, teens and adults.

 

“Katherine brings to this new position a wealth of knowledge and experience from the fields of social work, public health and management,” said Jeff Walter, Rushford’s President and CEO. “She possesses expertise in evidence-based practice implementation, system transformation, and implementation of electronic medical records, all of which will serve Rushford and our clients well as she takes on the role as Rushford’s Clinical Director of Adult Mental Health Services.”

Powell previously served as Director of Psychiatric Services at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut, and was employed for six years as a Behavioral Health Clinical Manager for the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services in Bridgeport. She has also held leadership roles at the Hebrew Hospital Home and St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center, both in New York City.

She is a licensed clinical social worker and holds a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Care Management and Policy from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University in New York. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Miami, and her Master of Social Work from Florida State University.

 

At Rushford, she will oversee all of the adult mental health outpatient services, the crisis and respite departments, Latino services, prevention services, and community-based support services, including the Friendship Club, jail diversion, the Camp Street (Meriden) transitional living program and the community-based initiative for supportive housing.

 

“I am excited to be working at a large agency whose primary focus is behavioral health,” Powell said. “I am looking forward to working at Rushford, which is well known to be an organization that provides quality care for the people that it serves.”

 

 

Powell is an avid music fan and spends the majority of her free time with her three children, ages 5, 7 and 12.
