Players and Media for Travelers Championship Stay at Rocky Hill Marriott

The hotel is about five miles away from the golf course.

The rain may be delaying play at the , but it is not hurting business at the , where many of the players and media are staying.

Room Operations Manager Chris Carey said that the 251 room hotel was at full occupancy from Tuesday to Thursday and is at 90% occupancy as of Friday afternoon. And most of the visitors are players, CBS media and out-of-towners attending the golf tournament.

"It is the biggest event of the year for us," Carey said about the effect the Travelers Championship has on the hotel. He added that the tournament helps bring in guests at a time of the year when attendance is usually down.

"It helps us finish out the first half of the year nicely," he said.

Carey said the hotel's proximity to the course along with the Marriott's rewards program is what keeps bringing people back.

"It is considered the best rewards program by Frequent Traveler Magazine," Carey said.  The Marriott is about five miles away from the TPC River Highlands course.

Besides delaying play, the rain has affected the golfers' routine as well. Golfers are staying in the lounge longer for breakfast instead of rushing off to the golf course, Carey said. However, he said visits to the lounge are slightly down, possibly due to the weather.

Even with the impending rain, the hotel is hopeful that the first two rounds of golf will be completed tonight, so that they can start making arrangements for players and media who may need to stay an extra day.
