Pack Training is being Offered at Fitness Together

New group style of training is helping clients shed extra pounds and build camaraderie.

Fitness Together is now offering pack training, which is small group training that allows people the chance to lose weight while making new workout partners.

“Research shows that people tend to push themselves more when working side by side with others in a group setting, yet large group environments do not allow for proper coaching on technique, intensity, modifying exercises to avoid injury, or switching up of routines to attain a higher fitness level,” said Michael Kaman, owner of .

Each day, clients are given a set workout plan, Kaman said. The workout starts with stretching and conditioning, followed by 20 minutes of strength training and high-intensity exercises for the final ten minutes.

"We get their heart rate up for the last 10 minutes," Kaman said. "We basically kick your butt for the last 10 minutes."

The trainers can provide classes Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Kaman said. He added that pack training sessions are half the price of one-on-one sessions and are limited to four people.

“Obesity and resulting health issues are increasing at a dramatic rate, and we have a tremendous opportunity to curb this trend in the Rocky Hill community,” said Kaman.

However, some clients may prefer one-on-one attention and can provide that as well, Kaman stated.

"It depends on the person. Some people want one-on-one attention and privacy. They have made it clear to me that they want to keep their one-on-one."

Clients are encouraged to train twice a week and eat healthy. Trainers offer a healthy eating tip of the day and provide nutritional counseling.
