Chelsea Groton Bank, which applied in November to convert the former Tim Horton’s Coffee Shop at Routes 117 and 184 into a branch bank with a drive through, withdrew its application on Friday.
Bank Senior Vice President William J. Lidestri wrote a letter on Jan. 17 notifying Planning Services Manager Matthew J. Davis of the decision. The letter did not give a reason but said the company hoped to work with the town at some later time.
“We greatly appreciate your efforts and I hope that we have the opportunity to collaborate in the future,” Lidestri wrote.
The bank had asked to make some changes to Candlewood Road to provide easier access to its proposed branch. The request was to change the road to provide a right-hand turn in and possibly a turn out onto Route 117. In October, the Town Council asked for more details about the plan before making a decision.
