Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Oktoberfest

Proceeds from the German-themed wine and beer tasting event will used for high school scholarships.

The held its at the Thursday night.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will go towards two scholarships for  seniors. A donation will also be made to the Hartford Distributors Memorial Fund.

"That's what we are here to do, give back to the community as best as we can," Vice President of the Kevin Kober said.

Kober said Thursday night is the "most etiquette" event that the chamber puts on and is chance to bring friends and colleagues together.

The theme of the evening was with several German beers and wines being available for sampling. German Hors d'oeuvres were served including warm pretzels with several varieties of mustards, mini-hotdogs and Bratwurst.

The annual wine tasting event is one of the three major fundraisers for the chamber.

"This is the fun one," President Ric Valliere said.

According to Owner Bruce Swanson, the most popular beer of the night was the Spaten Oktoberfest. The Blufeld Riesling was the most popular white wine and the Earthquake Zinfandel was the favorite among red wines.
