Barber Shop Opens Today On Silas Deane Highway in Rocky Hill

Rocky Hill born and raised Vinny Carone says shop will offer services not available in town.

Vinny Carone has lived in Rocky Hill all his life. His mother, Lori Carone, had been a hair stylist for the past 20 years formerly at Philip Charles, so Vinny basically grew up around hair care and cutting.

So it's natural that today, Wed. Aug. 7, he will open Vinny's Barber Shop at 2224 Silas Deane Highway.

But, Carone is quick to point out this is not your usual barber shop.

"When I was growing up in town, me and my friends used to have to go to Hartford or New Britain to get our hair cut the way we wanted it cut," Vinny Carone said. "There's never been a real barber shop in Rocky Hill. I'm going to be able to do the types of cuts kids want as well as the normal cuts. Kids from town won't have to leave here to get certain types of haircuts."

Carone said he will specialize in razor cuts, shape ups, straight razor edge ups as well as fades and blends. He also is ready to do basic scissor cuts and other haircuts of all kinds.

Carone is just 22-years old but says he has grown up in the industry.

"I cut hair for my boys and my friends and family for four years," he said. "Then I decided to go to school to get licensed. I went to Marinello School of Beauty in Meriden and now I'm licensed. I knew I always wanted to open a place so when I found this spot on Silas Deane Highway I scooped it up and I can't wait to open."

The 2009 Rocky Hill High School graduate said regular haircuts will be $16 with scissor cuts $17. He is running and after school special all of August for students. Children from ages 5 to 17, elementary to high school aged kids, can come in and get $10 cuts this month. He is also offering "Kid's Cuts" $10 cuts for children aged 5-10.

The shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. He will also open on Sunday for appointments. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are preferred.

You can reach Carone at (860) 778-7231.
