$6 Million Worth of Renovations Planned For Old Marriott Hotel

Renovations include improvements to each of the 251 rooms, upgrades to the workout facility and a new social hub in the lobby.

 

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. announced last week that the company will be making $6 million worth of renovations to the former , which . 

The land at 100 Capital Blvd. was for $3,750,000 on July 11. The building is owned by Merced Partners and managed by Wischermann Partners.

The renovations include each room being fitted with a Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed as well as an oversized work desk, an ergonomic chair, high-speed Internet, LCD flat panel television.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide plans to open a Sheraton Club Lounge with a fully-renovated bar and restaurant area at the 251-room hotel, the company's press release said. Upgrades are expected to be made to the existing fitness facility and a new a social hub will be built in the lobby, the release said.

“Sheraton Hartford South Hotel will offer travelers a stylish and comfortable setting, designed to create community and help guests make connections," said Hoyt Harper, Senior Vice President, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts in the release.

The Rocky Hill hotel is the second hotel purchased by Sheraton in the greater Hartford area and is part of a plan to add more than 65 new hotels in the next two years.

Corporate Ride Hotels Limited Partnership purchased the land where the hotel rests on March 6, 1989 for $800,000, according to documents in the assessor's office. The building would be built shortly after the purchase.
