Health & Fitness

An Unbelievable Story

Remarkable story about a young man and how a lifestyle change saved his life.

Almost every day of the week you can find me training at LA Fitness on the Berlin Turnpike in Newington. I’ve met numerous amounts of people who exercise there. However, the other day I met a gentleman were going to call “X” for privacy purposes. After hearing his story, I had to share it.

Exactly one year ago “X” was 25 years old and weighed 315 pounds with serious health issues. He had diabetes, high blood pressure, and anxiety. Doctors told him he had to lose weight or else he wouldn’t be alive for his 26th birthday. From that point forward, “X” signed up at LA Fitness, exercised daily, and made a life style change that would save his life.

He started off by doing light cardio exercises, such as walking on the tredmill. Day by day he progressed. He started to eat healthy every single day. He didn’t want to go on a diet, because he said he wanted to make a lifestyle change and didn’t want results to be temporary. He slowly progressed to weight training, interval training, and attended group exercise classes.

The day I had the pleasure of meeting “X”, marked the one year point of his lifestyle change. He has currently lost over 100 pounds! What I found remarkable was that “X” no longer has diabetes, high blood pressure, or anxiety. The only pill he swallows in the morning now is a daily vitamin.

I was truly touched by his story and thought everyone should know how exericse and eating healthy day in and day out can change a person. Making this lifestyle change, not only helped “X” drop over 100 pounds, but it saved his life.
