The annual summer movie series at Elm Ridge Park starts Friday.

Shrek Forever After takes center stage Friday night as the park and recreation department's Movies in the Park series begins. 

The movie will be shown at dusk in the Veteran's Memorial Amphitheater in the back of . (Movie patrons should be at the park no later than 8:30 - 9 p.m.) 

Shrek Forever After is the fourth film in the series and follows our green hero as he becomes bored with being a family man and a local celebrity. He desires to be feared again and treated as a "real orge." He gets his chance in exchange for his childhood and that is when the madness ensues.

The film stars the voice talents of Mike Myers as Shrek, Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona and Eddie Murphy as Donkey.

If the movie is cancelled due to the weather, the film will be shown the next week instead of the previously scheduled movie. 

Food has been sold in the past, but it is unclear if food will be sold this year. Patrons are also asked to park in the Elm Ridge Park parking lot.
