Midnight Update: 6,000 Without Power in Rocky Hill

61% of CL&P customers in town are powerless; residents are asked to stay off the roads.

As of midnight Saturday, 6,016 Connecticut Light & Power customers in Rocky Hill are without power, or 61 percent of customers, because of the freak fall snowstorm. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has declared a state of emergency in Connecticut and told residents in a Saturday evening press conference to expect to be without power for a significant amount of time.

Wires are down throughout the town and it is unclear if any roads are closed at this time. The governor has shut down the Merritt/Wilbur Cross Parkways, and residents are being asked to stay off the roads and not to touch downed power lines.

There is a parking ban in effect in town until Sunday at 11:59 p.m. to allow emergency crews to clear debris and snow.
