[Video] Connecticut Humane Society Needs Pet Food

Donations of any type of cat or dog food will be accepted to help restock the pantry at the animal shelter.

The pet food pantry at the Connecticut Humane Society is running low on supplies and the staff at the animal shelter is asking for your help filling it.

Unopened and unexpired cat and dog food is needed to help keep the pantry at Newington location open, according to Public Relations Director Alicia Wright. Any type of pet food, wet or dry, will be accepted.

"We are urgently seeking donations to continue feeding the pets of our clients," Wright said Friday morning.

The goal of the pantry, which opened in November 2010, is to provide "free quality pet food for people in financial need who are struggling to feed their pets," according to the Connecticut Humane Society website. The staff wants to help community members keep their pets at their home, "so don't have to think about giving them up for adoption," Wright said.
