Rocky Hill Smoking Ban for Public Buildings Now in Effect

July begins the first month of the town's ban on cigarettes at all town buildings and parks.

Attention smokers: if you are heading to Town Hall you better put that cigarette out.

A town-wide ban on smoking on Rocky Hill's public properties — including all schools, municipal buildings and parks — went into effect on July 1.

The New Britain Herald reported that the ban affects all town employees and contractors, as well as visitors and customers who pay a visit to any of Rocky Hill's public properties. The intent it is to provide a cleaner environment and to tackle problems of cigarette butts being found in some public areas in town, the Herald reported.

The Rocky Hill Town Council voted in favor of the ban and signs will be posted alerting residents that there is no smoking in these areas, Reminder News said.
