A Cookout For Seniors

Seniors enjoy hotdogs and the chance to socialize at the July senior picnic.

The July senior picnic not only allows seniors the chance to fill their bellies, but an opportunity to socialize.

Seniors spent Wednesday afternoon inside the Community Center enjoying hotdogs, baked beans and potato salad. Even though the dinning room was filled to capacity with seniors, Rose Collins encouraged more people to come down.

"If you are a senior, join us," Collins said. "There is no reason why anyone should stay home. This place is great."

Elderly Services Coordinator Denise S. Sanderson said the picnic brings in seniors who normally do not come to the Community Center.

"It gives seniors a chance to get out of the heat and socialize," Sanderson said.

After their plates were cleared and their bellies full, the seniors relaxed and played bingo.

The next senior picnic is on August 10 at noon at the Community Center. The food for that picnic is still to be determined.
