Nutmeg State Federal Credit Union Unveils First Mobile Branch in CT

Imagine a world where all of the essential services you use on a daily basis would just come to you. Nutmeg State Federal Credit Union is making that a reality, at least when it comes to your banking needs. Nutmeg is launching CT’s first-ever Mobile Branch, a full-service branch on wheels. The Mobile Branch will be on the road daily serving members by making stops at their work places and schools.

“This is yet another way we’re trying to create superior service to our members,” said Nutmeg State Federal Credit Union President & CEO, John Holt. “This new Mobile Branch will offer the ultimate conveniences as it’s equipped to administer all services, just like a branch…it even has an ATM on board.”

Nutmeg’s new Mobile Branch makes its grand debut on Thursday, December 6th at Illing Middle School in Manchester at 9 a.m. Illing Middle School is a participant in Nutmeg’s School Banking Program, aimed at teaching students financial literacy at a young age. While on the bus, the kids can learn firsthand the basics of banking, the difference between a bank and a credit union, the importance of budgeting, the various types of accounts, how interest grows and how to manage a loan.

The Mobile Branch will make its second exciting stop on Saturday, December 8th at the Newington Price Chopper from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this event Nutmeg State FCU is collecting non-perishable food items to be donated to local Food Banks for those in need this holiday season.

Besides high-profile community venues, the Mobile Branch will also serve in disaster relief situations. CT needs no reminder of the recent devastation of Hurricane Sandy. Should another serious weather event occur, Nutmeg’s Mobile Branch would be deployed to impacted communities to assist residents with their banking needs. A generator and dual back-up cell towers power the branch.

“This is a crucial asset in helping hard hit communities when there’s a disaster,” said Holt. “As we approach the winter storm season, we want CT residents to know that we will be on the road rain, shine or snow.”

Beyond ATM services, the bus will be staffed with Nutmeg State FCU’s personnel. On board the bus, people can open accounts, apply for loans and access just about any service they would in a physical branch.

Nutmeg State FCU’s new Mobile Branch is available for visits to corporations or community organizations by calling 860.513.5000 or emailing memberservices@nutmegstatefcu.org.
